Project Description

Emory University in urban Atlanta has committed to a strong sustainability focus.  Beyond cutting edge work in water use reduction and reuse, the private college has chosen Hannah Solar to provide multiple rooftop solar installations across the campus.  Hannah worked with Emory to create winning submissions for the Georgia Power ASI program that launched the school’s solar aspirations.

Hannah Solar, LLC completed the design and installation of multiple solar projects on the Emory University campus in 2015. At the same time, Hannah Solar installed two pole mount arrays that offset power for the Emory WaterHub, which recycles university wastewater for use in campus building HVAC systems. Based on the success of the 2015 installations the university asked Hannah Solar for an additional 95 kW , which were completed in early 2017.

“We spoke to several EPC/developers before we turned to Hannah Solar for help,” says Brent Zern, Assistant Director for Environmental, Safety and Maintenance Programs, Emory University. “Hannah Solar quickly addressed, with expertise and diligence, the tight project schedule as well as unique interconnection and layout challenges that these projects presented. Their team provided a great deal of immediate site assessment effort that allowed us to quickly move forward, handling all of the financing, design, installation and utility coordination with Georgia Power.”

The projects, with a combined energy capacity of 356.7 kilowatts, provide Emory University with renewable energy credits as a result of the solar power generated and helps the university offset its emissions and total carbon footprint.

“Hannah Solar crews were professional and project sites were well maintained which resulted in a high quality product,” says Joan Kowal, Sr. Director, Energy Strategy and Utilities, Emory University. “We look forward to pursuing more clean energy projects with the Hannah team.”
