Rome, Georgia, October 15, 2013 – Pirelli Tire LLC and Hannah Solar LLC agreed to a partnership for construction of a 500 KW photovoltaic energy generation facility on the property directly in front of Pirelli’s tire manufacturing plant in Rome, Georgia.  This solar project is expected to generate more 13,000 Megawatt hours of clean energy over the next 20 years.

The facility, to be built on three acres of land, will produce solar energy under the Georgia Power Advanced Solar Initiative, an innovative solar energy purchase program. Pirelli will lease the property, Georgia Solar Power Company and Energy Ecosystem will develop the project, and Hannah Solar will manage the solar facility.

Hannah said construction will begin in late October and the facility aims to start producing energy in January 2014.

“Pirelli has a strong commitment to sustainability, and the partnership with Hannah furthers this commitment,” said Paolo Ferrari, CEO of Pirelli for North America.
